Tropical Spice Garden's branding exercise is perhaps most evident in our quaint retail outlet housed on the ground floor of Lone Crag Villa. Our retail collection includes a sizeable range of unique locally sourced products and our proudly owned Tropical Spice Garden gifts. All our products have a unique 'old world' flavour which we dare say you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere!
We have a growing collection of fair trade 'orang asli' weaved and carved products that are purchased directly from the artisans in the remote villages throughout Malaysia as are our hand printed batik prints from a craft centre for mentally challenged adults in Balik Pulau, Penang.
Included in our range of fabulous gifts for the whole family are dried spices and ground spices, collector soft 'ethnic' dolls, spice oils, home fragrances, George Town hand sketched prints, designer t-shirts and much more!
Vanilla (vanilla planifolia)
Freshly vanilla pods are now on sale. This luxurious spice can only be found at our garden gift shop in Penang and it is sold by 50g or 100g. Vanilla pods are the fruit of a climbing orchid plant whose exquisite aroma is only released once the fruit is cured. Great for making ice cream and cakes and flavouring your sugar too!
Homemade Batik Bags
Peabag, the successful bag project of Paridah Moksin, has been commissioned by the gardens to produce authentic - 'old-skool' - batik-bags for us. These nifty bags are superbly stitched and make fantastic gifts when you're travelling abroad.
Citronella Home Fragrance
A delightfully, clean fragrance for the home and body using the well loved local favourite - essential oils of serai wangi (citronella). This special formula adds the essential oils of cedarwood to make it even more effective against mosquitoes. Wholly natural, free from chemicals the range includes, candles, incense sticks, mosquito coils, burner oils and body spray
'Spice Therapy' Home Spa Products
This range of 6 specially crafted blends of pure essential oil is Tropical Spice Garden's proud new development. We bring to life the healing properties of 6 different spices blended with other natural goodness to ease the mind or invigorate the body. Each blend promises to capture a little essence of the gardens for you to take home either as a massage oil, bath & shower oil, Himalayan bath salts, hand soap or liquid shower gel.
Historical Spice Timeline Poster
Developed from the annals of our Spice Museum, we are proud to present this roll up explorers map that traces the journey of the centuries-old spice trail. This double sided map also includes a brief written history of spices and the declining spice trade in Penang. Lovely to frame and remember us by!
